Daybook

For Today... October 5, 2014

Outside my window... the sun is beginning to rise.  There are pretty pink strips appearing across the sky.

I am hearing... beautiful piano music quietly playing on the cd player in the learning school room.  This cd.

I am thinking... about how truly blessed I am to have so many friends and sweet sisters in the Lord.

I am thankful... for early morning coffee in the dark with my husband this morning.  Rocking in our rocking chairs and chatting about the week to come while everyone else is still snug in bed.

I am wearing... my jammies.

I am creating... working on crocheting these in red.

I am going... to run some errands this afternoon and pay my library fine now that we've located 2 missing library books.

I am wondering...  what to make for supper with squash tonight.  I have pork chops but I keep thinking meatloaf would be good too.

I am reading... through the Bible with my Good Morning Girls group.  I read Genesis 9 this morning.  I am also still reading Praying Hyde.

I am hoping (trusting God)... for the salvation of some very precious loved ones and for my older children to be led by God in all areas of their lives.

In the learning room... Still studying Ancient Egypt.  Andrew is enjoying his Teaching Textbook math and is reading quite a bit now.  Christopher and I are still reading Mere Christianity.  Andrew and I have taken 2 weeks off of Science and we need to get caught back up.  :-)

Around the house... Saturday morning I was busy preparing some freezer breakfast meals and made quite a mess.  My intention was the get it cleaned up in the afternoon but my allergies were plaguing me and so I decided to tackle the mess after church yesterday but plans changed and I ended up not getting home until close to 8 pm.  My husband and oldest and youngest son decided to bless me and I cam home to a clean kitchen and house.  They swept, mopped, dusted, cleaned the bathroom and did up the dishes.  <3

In the kitchen... Still using up what we have in our cupboards this week.  I’m anxious to have everything cleaned out and start fresh.  We are making squash today.  One of my favorites!

I am learning… to let go and let God.

A favorite quote...

A few plans for this week:  piano lessons, errands, library trip, cleaning the spare bedroom and having the boys clean out and take down the pool.

A peek into one of my days...  new kitchen windows, curtains and paint!  I love how the new windows have a little ledge that I can use for decorating.  We still need to put up the wooden trim on the bottom but it's coming along!

  2. Hi Teresa,

It is wonderful, isn't it, when a clean house is your surprise? It really takes the tension away. Your quote struck a chord with my heart, because our house is actually the opposite and has been for too long. Through mediation and peacemaking I am trying to bring the other five family members into a loving group where we can work together and not against each other. Have fun studying ancient Egypt, that is one of my favorites.

    1. Hi Hilary :)

Thank you for visiting and for your comment. That quote struck a chord for me too. Seems I am always praying for peace in our home and working towards having a heavenly home. Praying for you tonight. Blessings!

  3. I love the slippers you are making . I crochet but only flat things so far. I hope to try a hat soon . Beautiful new windows. and I agree with Hilary , I need to continue to be in prayer and much more about my house. I would love for it to be a true sanctuary! And I know it is ONLY thru a miracle of God that that could happen .
So glad TTB math is working for you , we loved it!
Have a blessed week ! Lora

  4. Hi Lora :)

The slipper pattern is a bit disappointing. I spent some time yesterday afternoon working on them and I ended up pulling out my work twice. Maybe I'm just not reading it right. I'll probably give it another try but I was hoping to make them this week.

Praying for you and your family tonight.

    Blessings,
    Theresa
