FOR TODAY ~ Monday, April 28th, 2014

Outside my window...  It's a rainy dreary sort of day and makes me feel tired.

 I'm wearing... cozy warm sweatpants, a t-shirt and socks.

I am hearing...  an audio story.  Andrew is listening to the free story on Sparkles.  I was introduced to Sparkles earlier today after listening to Sarah's Read Aloud Revival podcast.  While listening, Andrew is working on rubberband loom bracelets.

  I am thinking...  that a nap sounds like a lovely idea but I wont be getting one today.

 I am thankful... for the chance to see missionary friends yesterday.

 I am going... to get a new dishwasher this week!  Yay!!

I am pondering... the following from my devotional book reading yesterday.

I am reading... Keeping House

 Around the house... The cloudy day makes the house seem so dark.  We've turned on all the lamps and lit candles.  It's very homey.

In the kitchen... Shrimp stir-fry over brown rice to supper tonight.  Mmm

 From the Learning Room...  Quiet day today - math, grammar, reading and handcrafts.  Andrew is working on bracelets and I'm knitting a set of dishcloths.

We're Creating Building ...  a shop for my husband and sons!  The older boys have be working a few days each week these last two weeks with my father in law preparing the land, digging and placing footings, a drain etc.  Wednesday through Friday of this week they'll be pouring cement.

One of my favorite things... the sweet thoughtful presents that Andrew brings home for me after being with Scott in the semi for a few days.  Wrapped in paper towels and held together with duct-tape.  :-)

A few plans for the rest of the week:  An enjoyable week with my husband home for most of it!!!!  Yay!!!

A peek into my day...  One of my new favorite spots.  I found a little table and some new candle holders and am enjoying having my quiet times up in my rooms each morning.

~Ascension of the Lord~

"Let our hearts ascend with Christ"  ~St. Augustine~

After working through some of the material in an Easter unit study, I decided to do another study on the final 40 days of Jesus' life on earth, His ascension into heaven followed by a week long study of the Holy Spirit and closing it out with the celebration of Pentecost.  I am just beginning to pull together the resources but am enjoying the process and study time.  

I pinned a few things HERE - So many of the ideas would be great for younger children but I know Andrew will still enjoy them and I am hoping it will help make connections for all of us as we live out our faith.  

I haven't been very good at keeping this blog updated and I would love to say I will try but truthfully the month of May finds me finishing up school particulars with my graduate, planning a graduation party and attending many others, beginning back up with our home remodeling project and now added into the mix, the building of a shop for my husband and boys which is primarily being done by my father in law, Christopher and Jonathan.

End of March Daybook

FOR TODAY ~ Monday, March 31st, 2014

Outside my window... The sun is shining and it is warmish but breezy.  Christopher and Andrew have been out playing football for about 35 minutes now.

 I'm wearing... a jean skirt and blue flannel shirt.

I am listening to... this weeks Restore podcast.

  I am thinking... about how the next 2 months will look with school and getting ready for Jonathan's graduation.  List making has begun in earnst.  :)

I am so thankful for... The Restore workshop 2014 it has been a HUGE blessing to me.

 I am learning... to be gracious and nurturing towards myself so that I can better nurture and show grace to others.  

I am pondering... how to keep things simple but intentional.

I am reading... The Heavenly Man, Holiness for Housewives and The Shaping of a Christian Family.

 Around the house... Lots of homekeeping chores to catch up on after weeks of sickness.

In the kitchen...  The fridge stopped working last week and thankfully can be repaired for much less than purchasing a new one.  Having to run down to the extra fridge in the basement has been a small inconvenience in that I can't readily see what we have.

 From the Learning Room... Over the next two weeks we will be studying Japan.  Andrew started a new lesson in his Apologia science book and Jonathan is just about finished with his schooling for his senior year!

I'm Creating... hard stops in my day to pray, read the Bible and spend time with my Savior.  I've set alarms on my phone that go off playing this song.  After a week and a half it is a precious call from Jesus to come sit at his feet and the instant relief that floods my spirit brings peace to me.

Last week I walked the Stations of the Cross at my childhood church.  Growing up and walking the stations was such a meaningful time for me.  It was important for me to go and spend that time meditating on Christ's love for me through his suffering and sacrifice.

One of my favorite things... Chai tea with honey and cream.  Mmmm

A few plans for the rest of the week:  Homeschool gym time, library day, Civil Air Patrol for Christopher, Weight Watchers meeting and taking 3 of our kittens to their new home on the farm.

A peek into my day...  

One of my favorite things about my kitchen and dining room... my rocking chair!  Often I'll sit here and pray, read or just sit in quiet if I'm cooking and need to keep an eye on what I'm doing.  Sometimes the boys sit and chat with me while I am working in the kitchen.  I just like that its there and inviting.
