FOR TODAY ~ Monday, August 27th
Today was our first day of school. It was L-O-N-G! :o)
Outside my window... It is 4pm, partly cloudy and I have my windows shut although I would love to have them open. The trucks are hauling sweet corn though and the semi's are kicking up quite a bit of dust so I've kept them closed.
I am listening to... A new (to me) cd by Erin Bates. Merciful and Mighty. This is actually her first cd. Her newest is Down Home Gospel.
I am thinking... that I am VERY ready for bedtime. :o)
I am thankful... for homeschooling. I love learning alongside my kids and spending our days together.
In the kitchen... I haven't planned very good for dinner today. I should probably be thinking about that instead of blogging. It will be chicken, as I already have some thighs thawed and in the fridge. Maybe homemade chicken nuggets and homemade mac and cheese.
I am wearing... a jean skirt, a white, pink and lime green floral top with lace trim in the front and a pair of white anklets trimmed in pink.
I am going... to be very busy tomorrow.
I am wondering... if I could get away with setting the clocks ahead so we can go to bed earlier, ha! I think my teenagers would catch on though.
I am reading... My Life for Yours
I am hoping... Jonathan's appointment with the doctor tomorrow goes well.
I am looking forward to... bed. :o)
I am learning... that having bifocals is not easy to adjust too. Not sure if its the eyes adjusting or what, but I am having twingy headaches.
Around the house... There is a load of laundry needing to be folded and another load waiting to go in the dryer. The lawn could use a mowing and the weeds are becoming trees in some places. The dogs are sleeping and one of the cats is annoying the boys by playing with the string they are using for bracelet making.
I am pondering... predestination and free will - I've been studying this and discussing with a friend for over a week now.
A favorite quote for today... “A true home is one of the most sacred of places. It is a sanctuary into which men flee from the world’s perils and alarms. It is a resting-place to which at close of day the weary retire to gather new strength for the battle and toils of tomorrow. It is the place where love learns its lessons, where life is schooled into discipline and strength, where character is molded." - J.R. Miller
One of my favorite things... My 9 year old asking me if I want to snuggle.
A few plans for the rest of the week: A doctor appointment for Jonathan, Civil Air Patrol meeting for Christopher, a chiropractor appointment for me, a trip to the library and finishing up our first week of homeschooling.
A peek into my day... woke up at 5:45 but didn't leave my bed until 6:30. :o) Prayed for our family and the start of our school year as well as for my daughter who starts her classes for massage therapy this afternoon. Made coffee at 6:43 and had my quiet time until 7:30. Woke the kids up, older two did their Bible study and Andrew and I made breakfast (scrambled eggs and toast). Started a loaf of bread at 8 am. After breakfast it was chore time. Started school with Bible time at 9 am and then worked through all of our work until a late lunch at 1pm. It was left overs and fresh warm butter bread. After lunch I did Science with Andrew and Christopher and then helped them with starting their friendship bracelets, which they have just abandoned in favor of playing outside. I heard them mention baseball - Jonathan is in the shop working on his truck.
A picture I am sharing.... sorry, no picture from today - the camera is not charged. I know, bad mom, no first day of school pictures.
