Nothing But Him

"I have read many accounts in different books on how to go to God and how to practice the spiritual life. It seems these methods serve more to puzzle me than to help, for what I sought after was simply how to become wholly God's. So I resolved to give all for ALL. Then I gave myself wholly to God; I renounced everything that was not His. I did this to deal with my sins, and because of my love for Him. I began to live as if there were nothing, absolutely nothing but Him. So upon this earth I began to seek to live as though there were only the Lord and me in the whole world." Excerpt from The Brother Lawrence Collection.

"I began to live as if there were nothing, absolutely nothing but Him."

Oh, Lord this is my cry tonight! To let everything else fall away. To abandon self imposed expectations and those of others. To drop deep, broken and bare. Exposed before You for who I truly am and yet You in your mercy and grace gather me tenderly and sing over me. Oh to truly forsake all and live wholly and only for You.

Oh that my ways were directed to keep your statutes! Then I would not be ashamed, when I look into all Your commandments. Psalm 119:5-6
